This workshop seeks to improve the understanding and use of paleoclimate/paleoecology data, interpretations, and context in policymaking, management, and conservation. While there are a few examples of paleo data being utilized to provide important temporal context for modern climate issues (e.g., IPCC reports), there is a wealth of scientific observations about the rates, magnitude and implications of climate and ecological change for physical, biological, and human systems that can be extracted from the paleo record. Our goal here is to provide, in a retreat like setting, opportunities for paleoclimate and paleoecology researchers to hone their skills in working with decision makers.
